Family Day

After over two long years, it's official. This morning we sat in front of a judge (well, in front of a computer with a judge over Zoom), and our adoption was finalized.  This date will now always be our Family Day. It's a surreal feeling to know that after all these years we've made it to the other side.  The waiting, the uncertainty, the frustration -- it's finally over.  Of course we will always be faced with the roller coaster that is parenthood, but this final hurdle has been cleared.  While we knew that today was simply a formality given the particulars of our situation, there is something indescribably special about this moment.  We know that this day is bittersweet; what is joyous for us is painful for someone else.  The duality of feelings that come with adoption are not lost on us.  That's why, in part, we've decided to celebrate and reflect as our own little family unit.  There will be time for us to share our happiness with the many fam...
