Family Day
After over two long years, it's official. This morning we sat in front of a judge (well, in front of a computer with a judge over Zoom), and our adoption was finalized. This date will now always be our Family Day. It's a surreal feeling to know that after all these years we've made it to the other side. The waiting, the uncertainty, the frustration -- it's finally over. Of course we will always be faced with the roller coaster that is parenthood, but this final hurdle has been cleared. While we knew that today was simply a formality given the particulars of our situation, there is something indescribably special about this moment. We know that this day is bittersweet; what is joyous for us is painful for someone else. The duality of feelings that come with adoption are not lost on us.
