It's Been a Night

Recently we've been toying with joining a new matching website.  It's a fairly new platform, but we've appreciated the care and support shown to expectant mothers -- it's not just about making the match to them.  Our only hesitation was price.  It certainly costs significantly less than joining the agencies, but it's still a monthly fee we hadn't counted on.  However, Husband was recently offered a temporary job with the army that, if all goes to plan, would offer an excellent financial boost; however, it will also mean that he will work out of town four days a week.  It's a routine we've done before, so we see it as a positive thing.  So tonight, brimming with optimism, we decided to go for it with the matching site and entered our payment information...

...and just as the transaction was complete we received an email from our first agency.  A situation has presented itself, and in an unusual move it has been shared with all of the waiting families.  The details are not mine to share, but there are some extenuating circumstances that necessitate families needing to decide if they wish to be considered.  The biggest factor will be some substantial costs for the expectant mother.

Husband and I had to do some serious thinking.  We've just paid for this second agency, and the initial costs are non-refundable.  We've also literally just paid to join this matching website; what if both of those steps are for nothing?  That being said, expressing interest in this new situation offers no guarantees.  We may not be what the expectant mother is looking for, or we may get shown and passed over -- it's certainly happened before.  Somehow it isn't surprising that all of this is coming together in one moment; it seems life just likes to make things interesting.  This new situation, this new site, this new agency may still lead nowhere.  It is quite anxiety-inducing to have all of these balls in the air, but maybe it's what we have to endure to finally make things happen.
